The Pumpstock warehouse, located in the San Francisco Bay Area city of Sonoma, is an important option which lets you bring inventory physically closer to your customers.  Transit times for either truck or UPS-type package services are a minimum 7 days from the east to the west coast.  Our warehouse can reduce lead times, moves the F.O.B. point closer to customers, and helps level the playing field with competitive manufacturers that are either located in the west or have their own western distribution center.  Pumpstock’s warehouse does not replace the need for stocking distributors.  No distributor can possibly stock all the right inventory.  But, by combining the usage of distributors in the West and stocking it where it can be shipped within 24 hours, you cut lead times to customers by a week or more, while at the same time offering your customers a broader range of products.  In today’s market, this can make all the difference in closing an order.

This service becomes even more valuable when dealing with OEMs.  Their swings in demand can be more dramatic than that of distributors.  Since JIT and kanban inventory methods have become the standard, having the product nearer the customer and available to ship immediately is critical.  OEMs are also looking for any way they can reduce their own component inventory levels.  By stocking product in the Pumpstock warehouse, you are simply filling the pipeline and moving the outlet closer to your customer. Our experienced personnel work closely with your traffic department to develop a program that is most cost effective.  Also, since the inventory in the warehouse is still the property of the manufacturer, Pumpstock’s inventory can be drawn on when needed in your other territories.  Often times we ship critical parts because we are still open as your factory is getting ready to close.  We effectively increase your factories shipping day by three hours.

Pumpstock provides the warehouse space and all the material handling equipment required to accurately and efficiently fill orders.  This service is provided as a contract warehouse service, with commissions paid based on product value shipped and paid only after shipment.  Once again, you pay no up-front costs.  Use of the Pumpstock warehouse is an option that may be used at your discretion, but is one which we highly recommend.
